Vijay Chasmaghar

Vijay Chasmaghar is located right opposite the Namdhari Gurudwara. We are in the Surt Garia Bazar area, close to Shiv Chownk. It is a very busy part of town and the noise from the market comes right inside. Our shop has been here for a good while. We spend our mornings cleaning the glass counters and making sure the frames are lined up straight. It is a simple setup with mirrors on the walls so people can see how they look. People stop by when they need their glasses adjusted or if they have broken their old ones. We have various styles of frames sitting in the cases. It is mostly just a family-run kind of place. We know the neighbors and the people who work at the nearby shops. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it is not too busy just to watch the people go by. The lighting inside is a bit bright so people can see clearly, but it helps when we are working on small screws. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. People usually just find us by walking through the bazar or if someone tells them where the shop is. It is an honest living and we have been at this spot for years without much changing in the way we do things. The street life outside is always interesting to see.
