Anchal

Our shop, Anchal, is located on Hisar Road in Haryana, right near the Dev Mandir. If you know the area, you probably know the Pritam Palace landmark; we are just a short walk from there. The road outside is always loud with trucks and buses going by, especially in the afternoons. Sometimes the bells from the temple at Ahani Dev Mandir Marg ring so loud we cannot hear each other talk inside. It is a very busy part of the city. We have been at this address for a long time. Inside, it is usually a bit cooler than the street, but not by much. We have stacks of items piled up against the walls because there is never enough shelf space. The floor is concrete and shows the wear from years of feet walking across it. We do not really do much to make the place look modern. It is just a regular shop where we do our business. My family and a few helpers are usually here from morning until the sun goes down. We drink a lot of water because of the Haryana heat. When the power goes out, we just sit near the door to get some light and wait for it to come back. People stop by on their way to the temple or the palace. We know most of the faces that pass by our door. It is just a normal life on Hisar Road.
