Shri Vinayak Trading Company

Running a business in Sadar Bazar is not for everyone. It is probably the most crowded place you can imagine. Shri Vinayak Trading Company is right in the middle of that madness. Every morning I have to fight through the crowds just to get to my door. Once I’m inside and the fan is on, it feels a bit better. We do trading, so there are always piles of goods everywhere and workers carrying sacks on their backs. It’s a very old way of doing business, but it works for us. We’ve been in Sadar for a long time and we know how the system goes. You have to be quick and you have to know your stock. There isn't much space to walk inside the shop because we try to keep as much inventory on hand as possible. I usually have a cup of tea on my desk, which is just an old wooden table covered in papers. We don't use fancy software; I write everything down in my ledger with a blue pen. The noise from the street is constant—bells, shouting, and the sound of wheels on the stone. It’s tiring, but there’s an energy in Sadar Bazar that you don’t find anywhere else. We stay here because this is where the business happens, even if it’s a bit chaotic most of the time. My father started this and now I am just continuing the work.
