You can find us at 553-B in the East Coast Centre on Anna Salai. It is a busy part of Teynampet, so there is always a lot of noise from the traffic outside our windows. Inside, it is a bit quieter because of all the carpets we have stacked up around the room. We have piles of them reaching almost to the ceiling in some corners. Moving them around is a workout, but it is part of the daily routine here at Malsa Carpets. We don't have a fancy layout with spotlights; it’s more of a warehouse feel where we keep the stock ready for people to look through. The air is often a bit dusty from the wool and fibers, but we don't mind it much. We spend a lot of our time unrolling big pieces so customers can see the patterns under the overhead lights. Our staff is small, just a few of us who know the inventory well. We have been in this building for quite some time now, and we’ve seen shops come and go around us. It is a steady business and we just focus on keeping the stacks organized and helping people find what they need. It is a simple way to spend the day, surrounded by patterns and textures in the heart of the city. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next person to walk in.
