Krishna Ghee Bhandar

Krishna Ghee Bhandar has been part of the Sheoganj Sabji Mandi for quite a long time. If you walk through the market early in the morning, you can smell the ghee mixing with the scent of fresh coriander and earth. The shop isn't much to look at, just a small space with shelves full of different sized tins. My father started this business years ago, and I took over after him. We don't do any big advertising or have a fancy website. Most people find us because they’re already here buying their daily vegetables. It gets very crowded and noisy outside with the vendors shouting prices, but inside it’s just the same routine every day. We spend a lot of time checking the tins and making sure the lids are tight. Sometimes the floor gets a little slippery, so we have to throw down some sawdust. It’s just how things go in a busy mandi. We have regular customers who have been coming to us for twenty years. They don't ask for a receipt usually, they just know the price and pay. We don't have any big mission or anything like that. We just sell ghee and try to keep the shop running smoothly. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living and we are happy staying right here where everyone knows us. We open up early, right when the first vegetable trucks arrive. By evening, the market gets a bit quiet and we pack up for the day.
