Hari Om Kirana Store

Our place is Hari Om Kirana Store on Post Office Road in Subash Nagar. It’s a quiet area compared to the main market, which I like. We sell all the regular kitchen stuff like lentils, rice, flour, and oil. I spend a lot of time weighing out portions for the ladies who live in the neighborhood. They usually come in the morning after dropping their kids at school. We talk about the news or what's happening on the street. I keep everything in large sacks and metal bins. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything organized and clean. I have to check the dates on the milk and bread every single morning. Sometimes the postman stops by for a chat since the post office is right nearby. The shop has been here for a long time, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it's functional. I don't use a computer for the accounts; I still write everything down in a big ledger book with a blue pen. It’s easier for me that way. My wife comes in sometimes to help me when I need to go out for errands. We know almost everyone who walks through the door. It’s not just about selling groceries; it’s just our daily life in Sheoganj. We don't have any fancy machines, just an old scale and a calculator. It works well enough for us and our customers who have been coming here for years.
