Chanderkanta Novelty

Our shop is right in the middle of the Sabji Mandi in Sheoganj. It gets very loud in the mornings when the vegetable trucks arrive to unload everything. We have been here for years, tucked between the potato sellers and the tea stalls. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside because we have so many small things packed onto the shelves. We sell mostly novelty items, things like hair pins, small toys, and plastic household stuff that people need for their homes. Being in the market means there is always someone walking by. Sometimes people come in to buy a small gift for their kids while they are out getting groceries for dinner. The floor is just simple cement and we have a big wooden counter where I sit most of the day. It gets hot in the summer, but the breeze from the market entrance helps a little bit. We don't do any big advertising. People just know Chanderkanta Novelty is here if they need a quick ribbon or a new comb. Sometimes I forget where I put certain things because there are so many boxes piled up near the back. My son says I should organize it better but I know where everything is usually. We open early because the market starts early, and we head home once the vegetable sellers start packing up their empty crates. It is a busy spot to be in every single day, but we like the noise.
