Ajanta Metal Store

We’ve got our little spot, Ajanta Metal Store, right in the heart of Sadar Bazar. If you’ve ever walked through the bazaar, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the vendors and shoppers. Our shop is filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of metal goods, mostly kitchen stuff like pots, pans, and containers. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep as much stock as possible for the folks who come in looking for specific sizes. We don't have those fancy computerized inventory systems; we just know which shelf has the brass items and which has the stainless steel. Sometimes the floor is a bit uneven, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose just fine. My family has been trading here for a long time, so we’ve seen the market change over the decades. We still do things the old way, weighing items on the scale and wrapping them up in paper for the customers. It’s a lot of clanging and banging when we’re moving the stock around, but that’s just the sound of the metal business. People come to us because they know we have the basic, sturdy stuff that lasts for years in a kitchen. We are usually open from morning until the market slows down in the evening, and there is always some hot tea waiting for us between sales.
