Sms Fruits Private Limited is located out in Shillaru, right along National Highway-5. It is a high-altitude area, so the air is usually thin and crisp. We are at Amar Chand Shyam’s place. Being right on the highway is important for us because that is how the fruit moves in this region. We see a lot of trucks passing by every single day. Some stop here to talk, and some just keep going. Our building is not anything you would see in a magazine. It is just a practical space for what we do. It can get very cold out here in the winter months, and sometimes the snow blocks the road for a few days. When that happens, everything just stops for a bit. We spend those days drinking chai and waiting for the plows to come through. It is a quiet life when the harvest is not happening. When the season hits, though, it is non-stop work from dawn to dusk. Everyone gets tired, but we keep going. We do not have a marketing department. We just have our names and our location. We have been part of this community for a long time now. People know where to find us if they need to talk about the local fruit crops. It is honest work, even if it is dusty and tiring. We just try to stay on top of the orders and make sure things are right.
