Sabharwal Project and Construction is based in Dadahu, right near the UCO Bank. Rakesh Kumar handles the day-to-day things here. We are a small team in Sirmaur and we mostly focus on local residential projects. If a family needs a new house built from the ground up, we are the ones they usually talk to in the VPO. We don't use big machines for everything; a lot of it is still manual labor, which works better for the tight spaces we have in this part of Himachal. We've got a couple of trucks and the basic tools we need to get through a working day. The office is just a simple room where we keep our registers and maps. It gets pretty loud during the day with all the activity near the bank, but we like being in the center of things. People drop in all the time to ask for advice on their own building projects. We tell them what we know. It’s about being part of the town. We've seen Dadahu change over the years, and we've helped build a few of the shops you see on the main road. We don't do anything too fancy, just solid walls and reliable floors. When the monsoon hits, we mostly do indoor repairs. It’s a steady rhythm of work and rest. We just keep our heads down and do the next job on the list until the sun goes down.
