Delhi Public School

Down in Nigahi, things are pretty quiet compared to the bigger cities nearby. Delhi Public School is right in the middle of it. If you walk by in the morning, you will hear the kids singing or playing outside before the first bell rings for class. It is a standard school building. There is nothing too flashy about it. We have classrooms with old chalkboards and wooden desks that have probably seen hundreds of different students over the many years we have been here. The teachers here are mostly locals who know all the families around Nigahi. It makes for a nice atmosphere where everyone kind of knows what is going on with everyone else. We do not have a giant sports stadium or anything, just a bit of open ground where the kids can run around and burn off their energy during the breaks. In the afternoons, the place gets real quiet once the yellow buses leave. That is when we sit down to do the grading and get things ready for the next day of lessons. Sometimes the power goes out in the middle of the day, and we just open the windows to let the light in and keep going. It is just part of living and working out here. We do not talk much about being special. We just focus on making sure the kids learn their math and science and stay out of trouble. It is a simple life for us in Nigahi.
