Kokan Natural Farms Private Limited is out in the village of Kusur, which is part of the Vaibhavwadi taluka in the Sindhudurg district. Our address is House Number 379, and that's where we base all our natural farming efforts. Being in the Konkan region means we have to deal with some very heavy rains every year, but that’s also what makes the land so green and productive. We try to do things the natural way, without relying on all the heavy chemicals that have become common these days. It takes more work and more time, but we think the results are worth the extra effort. The hills around Vaibhavwadi are beautiful, though they can make moving equipment around a bit of a challenge sometimes. We are just a group of local people who care about the land we live on. Some days are spent weeding by hand, and other days we are just watching the sky hoping for the right amount of rain. We don't have a polished office or a big marketing department. We are usually just out in the fields in our old clothes, doing the work that needs to be done. It’s a slow process, growing things naturally, but it keeps us connected to the rhythms of the seasons here in Maharashtra. We just want to keep farming the way our grandparents used to do it.
