Atul Cashew Industries

Atul Cashew Industries is located in the Bhatwadi area of Vengurla, which is part of the Sindhudurg district. It’s a beautiful part of the country, though we spend most of our time inside the processing unit. The owner, Anilkumar Shah, has been running things here for quite a while. Cashews are a big deal in this region, and we’re just one of the local spots where the work gets done. It’s a lot of manual labor, drying the nuts and then peeling them. We don't have those massive automated machines you see on TV. It’s mostly hands-on work by people from the nearby villages. The smell of roasting cashews is something you get used to pretty quick. Our facility isn't much to look at from the outside, just a plain building with a yard for drying. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing department. We just sell what we produce to the people who need it. Sometimes the weather in Sindhudurg makes things difficult, especially during the rains when we can't dry anything outside. We just wait it out and start again when the sun comes back. It’s a slow process, but that’s how you get good quality. We aren't looking to become a giant industry. We’re just happy being a local business that provides some jobs and keeps the tradition going. It's a quiet life here in Bhatwadi.
