Ai Spices is located right in the middle of Pan Bazaar in Kudal. We are very close to the Dargah, so it is a landmark everyone knows. Being in the bazaar means it is always noisy and there are people everywhere, especially on market days. Our shop is quite small and we have sacks of spices piled up against the walls. We spend our days weighing out black pepper, cinnamon, and other things for the local families. The air inside the shop is thick with the scent of cloves and cardamom. We don't have a fancy showroom. It is just a counter and some old wooden shelves. We get our supplies from the local farmers in Sindhudurg whenever we can. Sometimes the monsoon rain leaks a little through the roof, and we have to move the bags around to keep them dry. It is just a part of living here. We don't have a big marketing plan or a mission statement. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the regulars to show up. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years. We know their names and what they usually buy. It is a simple way to make a living, and we are happy enough with it. If we run out of chai, one of us just runs across the street.
