Poonam Food

We operate out of Flat No. 4 in the Kamal High Tech building. It’s located in Delkar Basti, which is part of the Paladi area. It’s more of a residential-style setup than a big storefront. We started Poonam Food because we wanted to bring something homemade and honest to the people around here. The kitchen is almost always going. You can hear the sounds of pots and pans clinking from the hallway. It’s not a massive operation. We use the space we have as best as we can. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when we have a big order to finish, but we manage to stay organized enough. Our neighbors are used to us being busy. We get our ingredients from the local markets every day. It’s important to us that things stay fresh. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Most people find out about us just by walking past or hearing from a friend in the Basti. We write down orders on a notepad and keep track of everything ourselves. It’s simple, but it works. Sometimes the delivery guys have a bit of trouble finding the flat because the numbering in this area is a bit confusing, but they usually figure it out. We’re just regular people working hard in our small space in Paladi. It’s about making good food and keeping the business going one day at a time without any fuss. We just keep our heads down and work.
