Our setup in Silvassa is pretty straightforward. If you’ve been to this part of the country, you know it’s mostly just factories and warehouses everywhere you look. We are right in the middle of it. The rain here can be really something during the monsoon, sometimes it feels like the whole road will wash away. Working for Hindalco here means we are always busy with the loading docks. We don't have a big shiny office building. It’s more of a functional space where we track the shipments and manage the local labor. It gets noisy with all the heavy vehicles passing by. The guys here are used to the grind. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. It's about the metal and getting it where it needs to go. Lunch is usually something quick from a nearby tiffin service. We talk about the local sports or the price of things in the market. It’s a very industrial vibe. You wake up, you go to the site, you handle whatever problems come up that day. Maybe a machine breaks or a truck is late. We just fix it and keep going. It’s honest work. Not many people from outside come here unless they have business. It’s just us and the machines mostly.
