Bhagwati Traders

Down here at Shop No-3 in Pilodi Naka Market, things stay pretty busy. We are easy to find because we are right near the HDFC ATM, which is a bit of a landmark for people in Silvassa. Bhagwati Traders is where we spend most of our waking hours. It is a simple shop filled with stock from floor to ceiling. Sometimes boxes are stacked a bit high, but we manage. My family started this because we wanted to work for ourselves in the local market. Dealing with traders and customers all day keeps you on your toes. We don't have a big corporate team, just us and a couple of helpers who know the inventory by heart. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the main road, but that is part of the life here. People stop by for what they need, often on their way to do other errands. We keep the ledger books on the desk and try to stay organized, even when three people are asking for different things at once. It’s a straightforward business. We buy things, we store them, and we sell them to people who need them. Silvassa is a growing place, and we’ve seen the market change quite a bit over the years. We just keep opening the doors every morning and seeing what the day brings, and that is enough for us at the end of the shift today.
