Our base is in Leninpur Kadamtala. It is a 734401 pin code area. We have been running cars out of here for a while now. It is not a fancy setup with a big lobby or anything like that. Usually, you will just find a couple of us sitting near the phones and a bunch of drivers standing around outside talking about the road conditions or the weather in the hills. Siliguri is the main hub for everyone going to Darjeeling or Sikkim, so we stay pretty busy with the cabs. We have all sorts of vehicles and we spend a lot of time making sure they are running right. The office is small and practical. We have a big board where we write down the bookings for the next day. Sometimes the handwriting is a bit messy but we know what it says. When someone calls for a cab, we just tell them what is available and what the rate will be. We do not do any big advertising or anything like that. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them about us. It is just a group of guys trying to make sure people get where they need to go. We know every shortcut in the city and all the tricky spots on the mountain roads. It is hard work, especially during the rains, but we have been doing it long enough to know how to handle it.
