Shoe Mall

We are over at Shop No B/3 in the Hawker Corner on Hospital Road in Siliguri. Siliguri can be quite damp and rainy, so we are always keeping an eye on the floor to make sure it doesn't get too slippery with people coming in from the street. The shop is small, like most of the places in Hawker Corner. We have shoes everywhere, stacked in boxes against the walls and displayed on the shelves. Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in when we get a new delivery of sneakers or boots. Hospital Road is always busy with people going back and forth, so there is a lot of foot traffic. We don't have a lot of room for people to sit and try things on, so it’s a bit of a squeeze. I spend a lot of time dusting the displays because the road outside brings in a lot of grit. We have a small mirror in the corner that everyone uses. It’s not a fancy mall, despite the name. It’s just a simple shop where we sell shoes. We have to be careful with the stock because the humidity in Siliguri can be tough on leather if you aren't paying attention. It’s a lot of work just keeping everything organized and making sure we have the right sizes in the back. That’s just a normal day for us at the mall.
