Our main place is actually a house called Chirayil Puthen Veedu in Kuttemperoor. It’s a quiet spot in Chengannur, which is part of the Alappuzha district in Kerala. Being an engineering firm in such a green and peaceful area is quite nice. We don't have a glass building or a big sign. Most people just know the house name, Kavitha, and they find us that way. We spend a lot of time traveling to different sites across the state, but we always come back here to do our drawings and calculations. The weather in Kerala can be tricky, especially during the long monsoon months. We often have to plan our outdoor work around the rain. It’s not a very formal environment here. We usually work in our everyday clothes and the office is just a room filled with books and old project files. We have a few staff members who live nearby and they just walk or bike to work. We don't have any marketing people or anyone like that. Most of our projects come to us because we’ve been in the area for such a long time and people trust the name. It’s a steady pace of life and we like being able to work in the same community where we grew up. We just focus on the technical side and try to get the numbers right so the structures are safe for everyone.
