Our Siliguri branch for Havells India Ltd is tucked away in Haiderpara. It is located near the Pranami Mandir, so we often hear the bells and the sounds from the temple throughout the day. We are right beside the Goodluck Plastic Factory, which is a big landmark for anyone trying to find us. It’s a busy little pocket of the city. The office is actually registered under the care of Radheshyam Bhutra’s family. It feels more like a local house turned into a workspace than a stiff office building. We deal with the damp Siliguri weather all year round, so the walls sometimes have that rainy smell. We have a few fans going all the time to keep the air moving. It’s a simple environment. There are no fancy partitions, just a few tables where we sit and go through the daily ledgers. Most of us have worked together for a long time, so we know each other's habits pretty well. We share snacks and complain about the rain or the humidity while we work. It’s a very grounded way to spend the day. We don't have a grand entrance, just a door that stays open most of the time. People from the neighborhood often stop by just to say hello or ask for directions. It’s a functional place where we keep the operations running. We just do our best to stay organized despite the busy surroundings.
