Darjeeling Muncipality

We are working out of the Hill View Apartment on Sister Nivedita Road in Pradhan Nagar. It’s a bit of a walk from the main center, but being here in Siliguri keeps us busy enough with Darjeeling Muncipality tasks. Dealing with local matters means there is always a stack of papers on the desks. We spend a lot of time talking to residents who come in with questions about their roads or water or whatever else is on their minds that day. It isn't always smooth sailing, as you can imagine with any municipal work. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other times it's quiet enough to actually get through the filing. We aren't in a big government building; this apartment setup works for what we need right now. People from all over Siliguri find their way to us eventually. The staff here is local, so we understand the problems folks face when the rain gets heavy or the traffic piles up. We try to be helpful when we can, even if things take a bit longer than people would like. It’s just the nature of the work. Every day is a bit different, depending on what needs fixing or who needs a permit. We just show up, do the hours, and try to keep things moving along for the town as best as we can manage. It is a steady job and we like it.
