Shikhar Foods is tucked away in Ghanshyam Nagar over in Maharajganj. It is a busy place where we handle a lot of different food items. It isn’t a very large factory, but we pack a lot into the space we have. There is always the smell of spices or flour in the air. The trucks have a hard time navigating the narrow roads sometimes, which causes a bit of a headache for the neighbors. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, there are crates and bags stacked everywhere. We aren’t some big city corporation. We are just local people working in the district. Most of us walk or bike to work every morning. The owners are usually on the floor helping out instead of sitting in an office. We have a few machines for sealing the packets and they make a very specific clicking sound all day long. Sometimes we run out of labels or a machine breaks down, and we just have to fix it ourselves. It is a bit messy and loud, but that is food production for you. We don’t spend money on commercials or flyers. Word of mouth usually does the job for us. People know where we are and what we do. It is just a regular part of life here in Ghanshyam Nagar. We keep going because there is always another order to fill.
