You can find Jyoti Rice Mill over on Gorakhpur Road, right in the main market area near Koda. Being in Maharajganj means we are in a spot that sees a lot of activity every single day. The mill is a busy place, especially when the farmers start bringing in their harvest. It is a lot of heavy lifting and moving bags around from the morning until the sun goes down. The building is older, with thick walls and a lot of history in the bricks. Inside, it is usually quite warm because of the machines running, and there is always that specific smell of dried rice and earth. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. People just walk into the main area and find whoever is available. We handle things as they come. If the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just take a break and sit outside until it comes back on. It is a very local operation where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have a small crew that takes care of the milling and the packing. The floor is usually covered in a bit of chaff, and we sweep it up at the end of every day. It is just a standard part of life in the market. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just a working mill in a busy town that deals with the daily grind of the agricultural trade.
