The Art Palace

Ramgarh Shekhawati is a quiet place most days, and we’ve been tucked away here at Zee Bhawan near Subhash Chowk for a good while now. If you walk past the main crossing, you’ll find us easily enough. The Art Palace isn’t some fancy gallery with velvet ropes or anything like that. It’s mostly just us surrounded by a lot of stuff we’ve collected and worked on over the years. Some days the dust from the road gets in, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept, though sometimes even we have to hunt for a specific piece for a minute or two. The walls here are thick, which helps when the sun is really beating down outside. People stop by sometimes just to chat or see what’s new on the shelves. We don’t really do much advertising because the local folks already know where we are. It’s a bit cluttered in the back rooms, but that’s just how it goes when you’ve been in one spot for this long. We try to keep things organized, but new items arrive and we just find a gap on a shelf to squeeze them in. It works for us, and the people who come here seem to like that it feels like a real workshop rather than a shiny store.
