Target

Our shop is called Target and it sits right on Ruia Street in Ramgarh Shekhawati. It’s a small town, so everyone knows where the main street is located. We aren't some big chain store, even if the name sounds like one you've heard before. It’s just a local business we’ve run for a long time. The building is old, with high ceilings and walls that have seen many seasons go by. We sell things that people in town actually need. We don't have a computer system for everything; we still write some things down in a big ledger. It’s slower that way, but it works for us. Usually, you’ll find me sitting near the front, chatting with whoever walks in. Sometimes people just stop by to say hello and don't even buy anything. That’s just how it is here in the village. The shelves are a bit crowded, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for in the back. We don't have a big staff, just family and a couple of helpers from the neighborhood who know the stock. When the festival season comes, it gets very busy and we stay open late into the night. But most of the time, it’s a quiet, steady pace. We don't have a mission statement or a corporate plan. We just open the doors in the morning and see what the day brings us. It's our way of doing things, and it works for everyone involved.
