If you go down toward 124, Rang Mahal, you will find us right near where Tulsi Bread Wala is located. We run the Sbbj Rice Mill there, and you can usually smell the grain before you even see the building. It’s an old area and the streets can be a bit tight, especially when the big grain trucks are trying to back in to unload. The mill has been part of this neighborhood's daily life for a long time. Inside, it’s loud because the hulling machines never really seem to stop during the season. There is always a layer of fine husk dust on the windowsills and the desks. We spend a lot of our time checking the moisture in the paddy and making sure the bags are stitched up tight. It’s not a clean, office-type job, it’s manual work that leaves you tired at the end of the shift. We know the neighbors well, like the folks at the bread shop nearby, and we see the same faces every day. People come by to ask about prices or just to see when the next batch will be ready. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small corner where we keep the ledgers and a couple of chairs. It’s a simple business, just processing the harvest and getting it out the door. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole night fixing them, but that's just part of the routine here.
