Our place is on the first floor at Ward No. 11 in Sikar. We are located near the spot where the old Dujod Gate used to be, which is a landmark most people in town know well. It’s an older part of Sikar, and you can feel that when you walk up the stairs to our office. We have a few rooms where we keep all the records for our members. It’s nothing special to look at, just a regular office with some tube lights and a few ceiling fans that squeak a bit when they’re on. People from the market and the surrounding streets come up here to manage their savings or talk about their accounts. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and going through the daily transactions. The morning is usually the busiest time when the shops are just opening up. We try to keep the paperwork simple because no one likes complicated forms. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out and continue where we left off. It's a small team of us here, and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the town. The noise from the street below comes in through the windows, but we don't mind it much. We just focus on the people who walk through the door and try to help them with whatever they need regarding their money in the Nidhi.
