Saraswati Gyan Mandir High School

We are located right in the main market of Kotma village. It gets pretty loud sometimes with all the shops and people moving around, but inside the gates of Saraswati Gyan Mandir High School, it stays mostly quiet enough for the kids to focus. Most of the families here in Kusmi Tehsil know us because we’ve been around for quite a while now. The school building isn't anything fancy, just some sturdy walls and rooms where the students sit for their lessons every day. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in during the dry season, so we spend a lot of time sweeping the hallways. We have a small area where the kids play during their break, usually just a game of tag or something simple they make up. The teachers live nearby in Sidhi district, so they walk or bike in every morning before the first bell rings. It’s a basic life here. We don't have big sports fields or fancy labs like you see in the cities, but we have enough benches for everyone and plenty of chalk. The kids are mostly from the surrounding farms and houses right here in the village. They carry their bags and walk together in groups when the school day ends at three. It’s just how things go around here. We try to keep the place tidy and make sure the roof doesn't leak when the rains get heavy in the monsoon months.
