Shekhar Clinic

Maghar is where we’ve been for a while now. This clinic is just a simple spot on the road where everyone passes by. The walls are painted a cream color that has faded a bit over the years. We have a few wooden benches for people to sit on while they wait their turn. It’s nothing fancy, just a room with some basic equipment and a lot of history. On rainy days, the sound on the tin roof part of the back is quite loud. We usually have a lot of people from the nearby houses coming in with their kids. The morning starts with sweeping the front step and getting the files ready. We keep everything in big metal cabinets that creak when you open them. There is a small window that looks out onto the street, and we watch the tea stall across the way get busy. It feels like a small community here. Everyone knows everyone else's name. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us making sure things run okay. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the lanterns for a bit. It’s just how things go in this part of town. We keep a jar of hard candies on the counter for the little ones who are brave. The air feels different here than in the big cities. Most days are quiet, but we stay busy enough with the local crowd. It is just a plain, regular clinic.
