Raj Kirana Shop

Raj Kirana Shop is located at 36-12 in Manchalepur, right on the Harihara Road. It’s a small shop, but we try to keep it packed with everything people might need. The shelves are a bit crowded, and sometimes you have to move one thing to find another. We spend most of the morning unloading crates of milk and bread. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. The Harihara Road gets quite a bit of traffic, so there’s always someone stopping by for a quick item. We have a small counter where we keep the change and a notebook for the regulars. It’s not fancy. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but we haven't found the time yet. Usually, it's just one or two of us behind the counter. We know who likes what brand of tea and who is going to complain about the price of sugar. It’s part of living in Manchalepur. In the evenings, the light from the streetlamps comes in through the door. We stay open until fairly late because that’s when people get home from work. It can be tiring standing all day, but we talk to the neighbors and it passes the time. We don't have a big warehouse, just a small back room for the extra bags of lentils and rice. It’s a simple business for simple needs.
