Kelagur Coffee & Tea Estates

We are located out in the village of Javali. It’s a bit of a trek to get here, but it’s where all the work happens. Being a combined coffee and tea estate means there is never a quiet moment. If it isn't time to prune the tea bushes, then it's time to check the coffee berries. We live and work right here on the land. Our days are ruled by the sun and the rain. We don't have a proper office with air conditioning. Our workspace is more like a collection of sheds and open areas where the processing happens. It’s a dusty and often muddy environment. We wear old clothes and heavy boots because that’s what the job requires. We aren't part of some big company with a marketing department. We are just a family and a few workers who have been on this land for a long time. We know every corner of the hills here. Sometimes the road to the post office gets washed out in the monsoon, and we just have to wait it out. That’s just how life is in a rural area. We don’t have a lot of visitors, but when we do, we usually sit on the porch and share a drink. It’s a simple existence, focused on growing things and hoping for a good harvest. We don't need much else to be satisfied with our work.
