Gokula Chit Fund operates out of Door No 307/1 on the first floor of Vidhyrathi Bhavana. If you know Hadadi Main Road, you probably know the area well since it’s a busy stretch of town. Being on the first floor gives us a bit of a view of the street, which is always full of traffic and people going about their business. The office itself is pretty simple. We have our desks set up to handle the chit fund memberships and all the monthly collections that come in. It’s a lot of counting and double-checking figures to make sure no mistakes are made. We don’t use any grand language to describe what we do. It’s just about managing the money that people put in and making sure the auctions go off without any issues. The stairs up to the office are a bit narrow, but people don't seem to mind. We get a mix of regulars who have been with us for years and some newer faces too. It’s nice to be on the main road because it makes us easy to reach. We spend most of our time organizing the paperwork for the different groups we run. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the entries for the month. It is honest work that keeps us connected to the people in this part of town. We just focus on the job and keep the records straight as the day passes by.
