Bhagvati Petticoat

We are located in Kolar Naga, Bandra. It’s a tight space but we make it work. Bhagvati Petticoat has been around for a long time. We mostly focus on making petticoats for the local market. The machines run from morning until late at night. Bandra is a fast place, but our little corner feels a bit slower. We have stacks of cotton fabric everywhere. White, black, and every color you can think of. The air smells like fresh cloth and engine oil from the machines. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit because of all the bundles. We don't have a receptionist. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long shifts. My brother handles the deliveries and I stay here to watch the production. It’s a family thing, mostly. We don't have a mission statement or anything. We just try to make things that won't rip after one wash. The neighbors are good people. We help each other out when the rain gets too heavy and the street floods. It’s just a normal business in a busy city. Nothing more to it. We keep our heads down and do the work. The radio is usually playing in the background, mostly old songs that everyone knows. It helps the day go by faster. We are just doing our part every day.
