Zilla Panchayat

Our workplace is called Firdose Manzil, and you can find us on the 3rd Cross in Tank Mohalla. This is right in the middle of Shimoga, Karnataka. It’s an old building that serves as the hub for our local panchayat activities. Being in Tank Mohalla means we are close to the heart of the town, so it is easy for most folks to reach us. We spend our days dealing with various local administration tasks and keeping track of what’s happening in the district. The office is usually humming with the sound of people talking and the occasional printer running. We have a lot of maps and charts on the walls to help us keep track of the different areas we look after. It’s not a quiet place, especially on market days when the streets outside are packed. We are just a group of people working for the community, trying to make sure the records are kept straight. Sometimes we have to travel out to the smaller villages, but Firdose Manzil is where we always come back to. We don't use much fancy language here. It’s just about getting the work done and making sure the local needs are addressed. We’ve been here in Shimoga for a long time and the building has become a bit of a landmark for those who need to visit the Zilla Panchayat. It stays busy from morning until dusk most days of the week.
