Aptech

Our place is up in the hills, in a village called Jaguni near Podansa. Being in Shimla means the air is usually cold and fresh, which is a nice change from the plains. The address is 172001, right in the heart of the mountains. It’s a small operation here. We don’t have a massive glass building; it is more like a local house converted into a workspace. You can see the trees and the mountains from the windows, which is probably the best part about working here. Sometimes the monkeys come around the balcony, so we have to keep the windows shut tight even if it’s sunny. Heating is important in the winter, so we have small heaters tucked under our desks to keep our feet warm. It’s not always easy getting supplies up here, but we manage. Most of the people who work here are from the local villages nearby. We walk a lot because the roads are narrow and steep. The internet is surprisingly okay most of the time, though a heavy snowstorm can change that pretty quickly. We don't have a formal dress code or anything like that. We just wear whatever keeps us warm while we work. It is a very quiet life here in Jaguni. We start our day early and try to finish before it gets too dark and cold to travel back home safely. It is just a simple way of working for all of us and we like it that way.
