Santhosh Farm

Our farm is out at number 39 on Haveri Road in Shiggaon. It’s a good piece of land and we’ve been working it for a long time. Farming isn't an easy life, but it’s what we know. We spend most of our hours outdoors, depending on what the season is. Sometimes we are planting, and other times we are just trying to keep the pests away or fixing the fences. We don't have any fancy machinery, just the basic stuff that gets the job done. It’s a family operation, so everyone chips in when it’s time to harvest. The road out here to Haveri can get a bit muddy when it rains, but that's just part of living in the country. We don't really think of ourselves as a company in the way people in the city do. We are just farmers. We sell what we grow to the local markets or sometimes people just stop by the gate to see if we have anything fresh to sell right then. It is a lot of hard work and sometimes the weather doesn't go our way, but that is just how it is. We don't have an office or a secretary. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to find us out in the fields or near the barn. We just try to take care of the land and hope it takes care of us in return.
