Santan Kumar Company

Our place, Santan Kumar Company, is right on the Main Road in the Gavay area. It’s a small part of the Sheikhpura district. Most people around here use the Maharani Mandir as a landmark to find us. It’s a quiet enough area but the road stays active with people traveling between villages. The shop is pretty basic. We spend a lot of time just sitting out front when the weather is good, waiting for the next load to arrive or for a neighbor to stop by for a chat. It gets dusty because of the trucks going past, but that is part of being on the Main Road. We don’t have any fancy displays. Usually, it’s just us moving sacks or checking the stock we have in the back. The building itself has seen better days, but it serves its purpose for what we do. We’ve been here in Gavay for a while, and everyone knows us by name. It’s the kind of business where things happen slowly sometimes, and you have to be patient with the logistics. When the temple has a festival, the whole road gets blocked up and we just sort of pause for the day. It is a local life, nothing too complicated. We just try to keep things organized and make sure we have what people need when they come through the door. The business is just a part of the daily rhythm of this little corner of Sheikhpura.
