Om Sai Pharma

Our place, Om Sai Pharma, is located right near the Gajanan Maharaj Mandir in Shegaon. It’s a peaceful area most of the time, though it gets quite crowded during festivals or on special days. We open up early because that’s when the first group of people starts heading toward the mandir. The shop is simple, with white walls and a lot of glass cabinets. We spend a good part of the morning dusting everything off and checking what stock came in the previous evening. Being so close to the temple means we see a lot of visitors from outside Shegaon as well as our regular local neighbors. We often sit on the wooden bench outside for a few minutes when it’s quiet, just watching the street and the people passing by. The work isn't complicated, but it requires us to be careful with the names and quantities on the packages. We have a small radio that we keep on a low volume in the corner to pass the time. Sometimes the smell of incense from the mandir drifts over to us when the wind is right. We’ve been here long enough to know when the busy times will be. It’s just a normal pharmacy where we try to stay organized and help the people who walk through our door near the temple. We don't make a big deal out of things, we just keep the doors open and the shelves filled.
