Shiv Plastic Store

You can find us right on the ground floor at Subhash Chowk. It’s a really busy spot in Shamli, especially with the Shiv Murti being right nearby. There’s always people walking by and the traffic is a bit of a mess during the evenings when everyone is heading home. We’re right near the Namkeen Wale Kamboj shop, so we smell the frying snacks all day long which makes us hungry before lunch even starts. The store itself is filled with plastic goods from the floor all the way to the ceiling. Buckets, chairs, containers, you name it, we probably have it buried somewhere in a stack. It’s just a family-run place. My father started it and now I spend most of my time here sitting behind the counter. We know most of the regular customers who come in for household things. We don't really have a big staff, just me and a young lad who helps carry the heavy stuff for people when they buy a lot. The shop gets quite dusty because of all the cars on the road, so we’re always wiping things down with a cloth. We keep the doors open to let the air in, but then the flies come too. It’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t do anything special, just sell what people need for their kitchens or bathrooms. Most days we close up after the evening prayers and head home.
