Shhed Foundation

Shhed Foundation is based at 10286, Street Number 1, in West Gorakh Park, Shahdara. Shahdara is an old part of Delhi with a lot of history and very tight-knit communities. We are located on a regular residential street where children play outside and neighbors talk over their balconies. We started this foundation because we wanted to provide a place for local youth to get some guidance. A lot of kids around here don't have much to do after school and it is easy for them to get into trouble. We provide a small space where they can come to read or learn about different trades. We also help the older folks who might be living alone and need someone to check in on them. Our building is an old house that we’ve converted to fit our needs. It isn't perfect; the walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the furniture is all mismatched. But it is a welcoming place for anyone in West Gorakh Park. We don't have a big staff, just a few local volunteers who care about the neighborhood. We don't do this for money or fame. We just think that if you live in a place, you should try to make it better. Sometimes that means helping a neighbor with their groceries and sometimes it means teaching a teenager how to write a resume. We just take it one day at a time.
