You can find Ilak Fabrics Private Limited over in Gandhi Nagar, which everyone knows is the place for textiles in Delhi. We are tucked away in Tagore Gali at House No. X/138. It’s one of those narrow lanes where things are always moving and there’s always someone carrying a bundle of cloth on their shoulder. Our space is not very big but we make it work for the fabric business we run. Gandhi Nagar is a tough place to navigate if you aren't from here, but for us, it's just home. We spend our mornings opening up the shop and checking what stocks we have left. The walls are mostly lined with different materials. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and moving things around in a tight space. We don't have any corporate offices or anything like that, just this spot in the gali. Sometimes it gets really dusty and the power goes out, but we just keep going. People stop by, we talk about the latest cloth prices, and we try to keep the orders moving out on time. It's a very traditional way of doing business, face to face mostly. We’ve stayed in this same house number for a good while now. It’s just a regular fabric trade life, nothing fancy, just keeping the shelves stocked and the customers satisfied with what they find in the stacks. We focus on getting through the pile of work before the sun goes down.
