Like almost every other place in this area, our shop is a bit of a tight squeeze. Gurudwara Gali is always crowded with people, carts, and big rolls of fabric being moved around. Being on the ground floor is a huge help because we do not have to carry heavy materials up any stairs. We have been a part of this market for several years now. It is the kind of place where everyone knows what the person next door is doing. We are not doing anything especially fancy here. We just have our machines and a space to put garments together. It is noisy and sometimes the electricity cuts out, but we just wait it out and get back to it. The New Delhi heat can be pretty bad in these narrow lanes, but we keep the fans going.
