Gkg Care Foundation

Gkg Care Foundation is based out of Shahdara, over in the Ram Nagar Extension area. The specific spot is 1/4331, and we are way up on the top floor. It is Khasra number 587 if you are looking at the land records or trying to explain it to a driver who is lost. Being on the top floor means a lot of stairs every morning, which is basically our workout for the day. It gets quite warm up there during the Delhi summers, but the breeze is better than what you get on the ground floor. Shahdara is a crowded place, and Ram Nagar Extension is no different, with narrow lanes and lots of houses built right up against each other. From our windows, we can see the rooftops of the neighbors and all the water tanks lined up. It’s a very local atmosphere, very North East Delhi. We don't have any big signs out front, just the address and the name. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, but that is just part of living in this part of the city. We have some plastic chairs for visitors and a big table where we sit and talk about what needs to get done. It is a bit cramped when more than three people are in the room, but we make it work. Most of the time it is just us and the sound of the city outside.
