Our place is over in the Jhilmil Industrial Area in Shahadara, at A 12. If you know the area, you know it’s mostly factories and warehouses, so it’s always a bit noisy outside with trucks loading and unloading stuff. Our office is right in the middle of all that activity. It’s not a fancy glass building or anything like that. It’s a practical space with concrete floors and high ceilings that echo a bit when it’s empty. We have a heavy metal door at the front that makes a lot of noise when you open it. Inside, there are a few long tables where we set up our laptops. The air out here can be a bit dusty because of the industrial work going on nearby, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the desks. We usually get our lunch from a small stall down the street that makes really good parathas. It’s a long commute for some of us, especially with the Shahadara traffic, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We mostly just focus on getting our daily orders processed and making sure everything is where it should be. There’s a lot of movement in the halls of the building, with people constantly carrying boxes and papers. It’s a hardworking part of town, and we just try to keep up with the pace of the neighborhood. The lighting is a bit dim in the back rooms, but we have enough lamps to see what we are doing.
