Maa Durge Rice Mill

In the village of Haswadih, life moves at its own pace. Maa Durge Rice Mill is located right here in the village and the post office is also called Haswadih. We are deep in the countryside where the fields are all around us. The mill is a loud place once the machines start up. We spend our days handling heavy bags of rice and watching the husks fly. It is dusty work and our clothes usually show it by noon. This is not a corporate office with air conditioning. We have the breeze from the open fields instead. People from the nearby farms bring their harvest to us. We know the local land and the people who work it. The mill has been a part of Haswadih for a while now. We do not have a big marketing team or a fancy sign. Most people just follow the sound of the engines to find us. When the harvest season is on, we work until late at night. It is tiring but it is what we do. We drink tea in the shade when we take a break. The village is small so everyone knows where the mill is. We just focus on the rice and making sure the machines do not break down. It is honest, hard work and we like it that way. We just keep the wheels turning and the grain flowing out to the families.
