Rakesh Enterprises

Our shop is right in Budhwari Bazar, right in front of the Bajrang Akhada. It’s a very lively spot, especially on market days when the whole street is packed with people and carts. Rakesh Enterprises has been here for years, and we’ve seen the market change a lot. The building isn’t much to look at, but it’s sturdy and keeps our stock dry from the rain. We deal in various general goods that people in the area need. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves and boxes, but we know where everything is. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we just remember or look at our old ledgers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. My brother and I run the place mostly, with one or two others helping when it gets really busy during the holidays. We don’t do any fancy marketing or flyers. Our customers come to us because they know we’re always here and the prices are what they expect. Sometimes we sit outside on stools when it’s slow and talk to the neighbors. It’s a friendly atmosphere around the Akhada. We aren't looking to expand or become some huge corporation. We just want to keep the shop running well and serve the folks who live around here. It’s a lot of work, but it’s what we know how to do. We just take it one day at a time.
