Prakash Agencies is located in the Sadar Complex over in Budhwari. If you've ever been to this part of town, you know it's a maze of shops and narrow lanes. Our office is at number four. It’s one of those older commercial buildings where the walls have seen better days, but it’s sturdy. We’ve been operating out of here for a long time. The stairs can be a bit steep, so we tell everyone to watch their step. Most of our day is spent on the phone or writing out invoices by hand. We deal with a lot of different suppliers. It’s loud in the mornings when the market is opening up and everyone is shouting for space. We usually have a pile of boxes near the door waiting to be picked up. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we have a system that works for us. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a moment to breathe. Budhwari is a place that never really stays quiet. We have a few desks pushed together and a lot of filing cabinets that are probably too full. People stop by to settle accounts or just to chat about how the market is doing. It’s a plain, straightforward business. We don’t use any fancy software, just the basics to keep things running. We've been here through many changes in the neighborhood and we're still going.
