Fareed Stone

We are located in Bheemgarh Village, out in the Chhapara Tehsil area. Our spot is pretty easy to find because we are quite close to the State Bank of India branch. There are always stones of all shapes and sizes lying around our yard. We deal with the raw material that comes from the local area. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving the stones and getting them ready for transport. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the middle of the day, so we usually have a tea break around then. The dust from the stone is everywhere, on the trucks, on the office windows, and even on the trees nearby. We have a couple of old trucks that we use to move the heavier loads around the village. It isn’t a high-tech operation at all. We rely on our hands and some basic tools to get the work done. The road near the bank can get tight when the local farmers are moving their goods, so we have to be careful with the loading. We’ve been part of the Bheemgarh community for a long time. People know they can just come by and see what we have in the piles. We don't do much in the way of advertising. We just keep our heads down and work the stone as it comes in. The days are long and the work is tiring, but there’s always something to be done in the yard before we head home. We just take it day by day.
