Sri Vinakaya Tex

Sri Vinakaya Tex is located at No. 11 Sellam Nagar, right on the 5th Street off Murugam Palayam Road. This area is full of textile businesses, so the sound of machines is something you hear everywhere. Our place is a practical workspace where we handle fabrics and garment work. It’s often quite cluttered with rolls of cloth and bags of scraps, but we have our own system for finding things. The 5th Street can get a bit tight when trucks are trying to load or unload, so there’s often some shouting and maneuvering involved. We have a few heavy sewing machines and cutting tables that take up most of the room. It gets pretty warm inside when all the equipment is running, so we keep the doors open as much as we can. Our workers are mostly from around this neighborhood, and we’ve been working together for a long time. We don't have a fancy showroom for people to visit. Most of our work is about getting orders ready and sent out to the people who bought them. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the stitching and making sure the colors are right. It’s hard work and the days are long, especially when we have a big deadline. We usually have a tea break in the late afternoon, which is a nice moment to sit down before the final rush of the day.
